Why do old vintages have Chateau Haut Garrigue and Chateau La Garrigue on them?
Before the Feely’s bought the farm in 2005 Chateau Feely was called Chateau La Garrigue. But the previous owners hadn’t protected the name so an alternative had to be chosen and it was changed to Chateau Haut Garrigue on purchase in 2005. Then in 2010 the Feely’s – sometimes mispelled as Feeley – changed the name to Chateau Feely – Feely being their family name. Vintages began to be labelled Chateau Feely from then but the official documents to change the name from Chateau Haut Garrigue to Chateau Feely were finalised in 2014.
