Volunteer Week at Chateau Feely 29 March to 4 April
Come and experience chateau Feely as a volunteer in 2020!
Chateau Feely is offering a volunteer week – Sunday 29 March to Saturday April 4, 2020. We would love to welcome you here! If you know someone who would appreciate this opportunity please pass this info on with the share button.
Volunteers have no costs once they arrive and in exchange we request 6 hours of participation in maintenance (eg painting)/ gardening/ projects a day on weekdays. There are also other potential projects depending on your DIY capabilities; for example we would love to set up an insect house and a bird hide. We take turns to cook for the group – good organic food, including delicious vegetables direct from the garden. We work from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 17.30.
We are looking for people who are self starters and can operate independently, who are not afraid of physical activity and being outside and who ideally have some DIY experience (for our volunteer week unfortunately we don’t receive children). We are an organic and biodynamic farm and we want to share this way of living with people who have a willingness and eagerness to learn and to participate in what we do. This is a no wimps zone. If you are unable to remove a spider from your bedroom Chateau Feely is not for you. Everyone has a turn to do meal preparation and cleaning up. If this is new to you try to learn a simple recipe that you can cook for the group before you come to us. We eat a lot of vegetarian but not exclusively.
What we offer
-Collection and return to Gardonne station. See our FrenchWineAdventuresFeelyTravelGuidelines for more info on this.
-Three meals a day and a glass of great organic wine in the evening
– accommodation in a shared bedroom in one of our holiday homes
– sharing ideas of organic living and farming and self sufficiency
-2 yoga sessions with Caro for those who wish to discover or to practice yoga
Keen to join us?
Send us an email with some information about what you enjoy and what you would like to contribute. We have a maximum of 6 places for this volunteer week so it will be fun and cosy.
Details of where we are
Our vineyard farm of 14hectares is on the edge of Saussignac village, 1 hour 15 mins drive east of Bordeaux in South West France. The nearest train station is Gardonne (see www.sncf.fr ). We can collect from there. Saussignac village is small and has a post office and a restaurant. Gardonne (15 mins on the bike / 4kms) has more facilities (shops, bank, restaurants, bar hotel etc).
What to bring / other info
Please bring waterproof clothing and boots; outdoor clothes (clothes that you don’t mind getting paint stains on); sufficient gear for cold weather in case and good gloves. Please make sure that you have adequate health and travel insurance for your planned travel.
House notes
-
We expect volunteers to keep their accommodation in good order as they found it.
-
No smoking at Chateau Feely.

Hello!
I would love to volunteer and help in any way I can on the vineyard – so this seems perfect for me! Unfortunately I have already planned a long trip away in March/April and so won’t be able to help on this week.
Is there any other way of helping out/volunteering at any other time of year? Either before March or over the summer!
Thanks for getting in touch James. We may plan more weeks but no other dates set for now. I’ll send more info via email. Merci!
Really looking forward to this Caro and loved your eco blog too. Very excited about doing some yoga with you too…xx
Thanks Debbie! We’re so looking forward to seeing you here.
