A Gourmet Itinerary in the Dordogne and Bordeaux
Looking to savour the very best of southwest France’s gastronomy? This 6-day itinerary is designed for food lovers, with daily highlights including Michelin-starred lunches, scenic villages, and day trips — all easily accessible from Chateau Feely in Saussignac. Read on for the full Gourmet itinerary Dordogne with Michelin star restaurants in the greater Bergerac and Bordeaux region.
Sunday – Aperitifs & a Walk to Saussignac
Settle in and soak up the serenity of Chateau Feely. Take a gentle 1km walk up to Saussignac village. Enjoy a morning croissant, coffee or an apéro at the co-op café Au Timbré and visit the local organic veg stall. Drop into Annabel's jewellery and art shop. Lunch suggestion: Restaurant Le Mélange – local, seasonal and relaxed. Afternoon stroll home through vineyard and castle views. If you prefer guided experiences the Feelys also offer full service wine tours and vineyard walking tours and wine and foodie tours on site at Chateau Feely.
Monday – Michelin Tapas & Bruno Chief of Police
Drive east (just under an hour) to Trémolat. Book in advance for Le Vieux Logis’ “Menu Ephémère”, a Perigord-style tapas experience by MOF chef Vincent Arnould. We adore the Vieux Logis, it is an institution, an icon of the region, and we love the people there. This is a foodie experience not to be missed, one of the greats for the Dordogne and of France. After lunch, take a walk in the panoramic gardens of Limeuil or visit Le Bugue, inspiration for Martin Walker’s Bruno novels. If you are into books see our Nouvelle Aquitaine Literary Booklover Itinerary and read Caro's books about the adventures of setting up chateau Feely.
Tuesday – St Emilion & Chateau Angelus Excellence
Head west to the UNESCO village of St Emilion (50 mins). Wander the medieval streets in the morning. Lunch at Logis de La Cadène, a refined experience from the team behind Chateau Angelus. Consider booking a tour of the underground monolithic church or reserve a tasting at an organic grand cru like Château Bernateau.
Wednesday – A Castle & Michelin Star Views
Explore the Monbazillac Château, perched above Bergerac’s vineyards. Enjoy a long lunch at La Tour des Vents, known for its sweeping views and fine cuisine. Take a vineyard stroll after lunch or visit Maison Vari for a tasting.
Thursday – Michelin Star in the Vines
Lunch or dinner at Les Fresques at Château des Vigiers (just 6km away from Chateau Feely). Perfect for a leisurely gourmet experience close to home. Take time to enjoy the estate’s grounds.
Friday – Bordeaux by Train & L’Oiseau Bleu
Take the TER train from Gardonne to Bordeaux (approx. 1 hour). Enjoy morning coffee at Books & Coffee near La Grosse Cloche. Lunch at the elegant L’Oiseau Bleu (127 avenue Thiers). Return for a relaxed final evening at Chateau Feely.

Tips for This Gourmet Itinerary
-
We recommend booking all restaurants in advance, especially during high season.
-
Consider booking a day tour eg St Emilion Grand Cru Wine Tour with French Wine Adventures to have everything taken care of, the insight of an experienced winegmaker and certified wine educator, and to avoid driving on wine tasting days.
-
Mix gourmet with casual: a casual supper on the Wine Lodge Terrace or Wine Cottage Terrace looking over the vines makes a great balance.
