Point of Silex – Certified organic dry white wine from old vine Semillon

Extraordinary old vine semillon organic dry white wine. There is no vintage on this wine – it’s a blend predominantly 2021, with some 2022 – so it doesn’t meet the 85% single‑year requirement to put a vintage on the label. We lost significant volume to climate crisis extremes – frost in 2021 and devastating hail in 2022 (and 2024) – and this was a beautiful blend of the two vintages. The wine was aged for four years in stainless steel and barrels and bottled April 2026. This is an age-worthy, complex white wine, made for enjoyment over a delicious dinner of vegetarian bean or chickpea dishes in coconut sauce, or seafood or white meats in creamy sauces. The smoky notes mean it is great with smoked foods too.

These semillon vines were planted in 1945, long before cloning existed. Cuttings were taken from many different plants creating more genetic diversity and disease resistance. This vineyard was established through true massal selection. As vines age past forty years yields naturally decline, but the berries become more beautiful, more concentrated, and more delicious. Deep character. Timeless Semillon.
