Today is grey and misty but the last few days have been a riot of gold. Autumn brings a change of pace, a slow breathing in of the earth from Autumn equinox to Spring equinox (inspiration), a moment of taking stock of where we are, for the vines it is time to take all the goodness from the leaves and settle them down into the roots before letting them go.
These views are from the wine cottage. Autumn is a good time for medium reds like delicious Feely Resonance 2014 a certified organic and biodynamic no sulfites added natural wine made from merlot (no oak) or the newly released Feely La Source 2014 certified organic and biodynamic no sulfites added natural wine, 100% barrel aged and 80% merlot, 20% cabernet -like a St Emilion blend, a plummy cocoa delight.
Views off the Wine Lodge Terrace. Or imagine sipping the recently launched Feely traditional method brut sparkling rosé on the deck in the Autumn sun or around a cosy fire.
We will wait for all the leaves to drop before we start the winter pruning. This is a time of relative peace and quiet in the vineyards – without the constant hum of tractors that accompanies spring. A great time to do a vineyard walking tour or a gourmet wine tour in the region.
